All performers must submit a one-minute pre-screen audition video. You do not need to record an entire song-just your best minute!
Video Guidelines:
Begin by introducing yourself: State your first and last name, and age. If you would like to be considered for a specific character you can include that, as well.
Frame yourself from at least the waist up so we can see your expressions and movement.
Use a backing track (accompaniment/karaoke track) played from a separate device. You can find karaoke backing tracks to most songs on YouTube.
No fancy equipment needed - a phone recording works perfectly!
Upload your video below. Videos must be under 15 GB in size.
For video files larger than 15 GB - Upload to YouTube or Vimeo first, set privacy as "public" or "unlisted" and copy and paste the link to the video below.
Song Selections:
Selecting an appropriate audition song is an important part of the learning process. A well-chosen piece helps the director clearly imagine you in the world of the show and in a potential role. While you may sing certain songs beautifully, choosing material that is too far removed from the style of the production can make it difficult for the creative team to see how your voice and acting fit the show. Thoughtful song selection shows preparation and understanding of style.
Shrek, Jr. blends contemporary Broadway pop, heartfelt ballads, comedic storytelling songs, and high-energy numbers. When selecting an audition song, think contemporary musical theatre pieces with clear character, strong storytelling, and a little humor. Songs from shows like Seussical, Hairspray, Matilda, SpongeBob SquarePants, Mean Girls, or Into the Woods can be good fits. There are also several Disney titles that could help the creative team imagine how you might fit into the whimsical and modern world of Shrek, Jr.
Have fun and show us your personality - we can't wait to see and hear your auditions!
